General Notes: From the Dundurn Memories Book: Wm Hass Family "Mr. Rudolf Peters and brother-in-law, Henry Thode came fromWisconsin, U.S.A. to Dundurn in 1901. They obtained entries for homesteads for Wm Hassand Herman Peters. The following year Sept 22, 1902, Mr and Mrs Hass,their children Harvey, Edna and Herman Peters arrived by mixed train via Regina tomake their new home on homesteads at what was later Indi... Herman Peters bought Wm Hass's homestead and the Hass family moved to Jacoby place. Then in 1910 when 1/2 section 27-31-4 W 3rd waspurchased in Hanley district the real Hass farmstead was begun. However thechildren still attended Whoosier School until 1916 when Verna and Mabel were abletoenroll at Gilead School... Wm Hass served as local barber and Mrs Hass was amuch sought after midwife." -----Obituary----- Saskatoon Star Phoenix, Saskatoon, SK, Canada, Aug 31, 1964, p. 18 HASS - THE DEATH OF WILLIAM HENRY HASS, age 85, of N.N. 1050 KingStreet, occurred suddenly on august 23. The funeral service will be held onTuesday, September1, at 2 p.m. from Mckague's funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev.L. Kirkpatrick. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Hass; three daughters,Mrs Edna Beaumont and Mrs. Verna Layton of Saskatoon, Mrs. Mabel Knock, Hanley;one son, Harry Hass of Hanley; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren;two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Greve and Mrs. Ella Kindt in the USA; three brothers,Peter Hass and Frederick Hass in the USA and Henry Hass of Vancouver, Mr. Hass wasapioneer of the Dundurn district and retired to Saskatoon a few years ago.Interment will be made in Hillcrest memorial Gardens. -----End Obituary----- Noted events in his life were: Obituary: Saskatoon Star Phoenix, on file.
