WAS A METHODIST CIRCUIT RIDER IN THE EARLY DAYS OF MARYLAND. REV
STEPHEN TIMMONS, THE SON OF THOMAS AND MARY CLARKSON TIMMONS
His fathers ancestors came from England. His father was amember of the
Episcopal church.In Oct. 1798 Stephen Timmons left his circuit and
crossed the ohio at Wheeling: took the Zanes trail through the unbroken
forrest for the then far west,finally reaching Chillicothe. Her then
returnned home to his circuit and told the Presiding Elder his intentions
of returning home to let his friends and family known about fabulous
land. He also visited White Brown, his future father-in-law and
persuaded him to go visit this new country with him. They finally settled
on the banks of Deer Creek 13 miles northwest of Chillocothe in the year
od 1801. In March 1802 Stephen was married to Milly Brown the
daughter of White brown. They lived on 250 acres of land he bought 11
miles north of Chillocothe, Ross County in a 16 feet square cabin.
Stephen married a second time to widow Comberford, formerly Lydia
Cartwright. 6 children to this union. Joseph, William, James, Benjamam,
