census 12 June 1880 says "cancer"
She came to the United States in 1857 with her husband and 3 older daughters. They were in Rubicon in 1858, when their next daughter was born. From the dates, she was probably pregnant on the voyage from Germany. She later bore a son who must
have died very young, as he does not appear in any later records.
On the 1860 census, she and her husband and children were enumerated right after the family of Karl Fischer, who may have been her younger brother or half-brother. The Kraus family settled on a farm in Greenville WI in 1863. Two more daughter
s were born to her after they went to Greenville. She died of cancer and is buried in the cemetery of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.
Anton and Franziska Fischer appear right above the Kraus family on the 1870 census. Katherina's parents were (Johann) Anton Fischer and Karoline Charlotte Albertine Schwardl(ing).
