Nachrichten: Letter from 3 of Alois' daughters, written to Rev. Alfred Pritzl in 1962 (Original written in German, and Bernice ECKER RIENDL had it translated) Translated copy obtained from Leon Pritzl of Merrill, Wis. in 1988 Original letter obtained from Bernice ECKER RIENDL in Jan 1989
Auerbach, Opf. August 15, 1962 Dear Father Alfred, our cousin: [English: Please don't write venerable sister. I am quite a little old sister] Your long letter, which brought much joy to us, is still unanswered. But every day I think in my prayers of the building of your high school, for which you and your office made so many sacrifices and did so much work. And now to our family Pritzl: On this day, the feast of Maria Ascension, I think especially about the little mountain church near the Osser (mountain) and the pilgrimage for which our religious father started out early in the morning, namely about 2:30, so that he could be there for the 10 o'clock Mass, which would be held outdoors. How he must have prayed there! The people knew him already, the man with the many children. Us two youngest ones never had the chance to go with him, for he died when I was 5 years old, and Luise was three years old. But this day was always dedicated to the memory of our father and it is still a very special holy day. About the family, Vater Alois Pritzl, mother Barbara. Children: MICHAEL, ANNA (Sister Alferia), THERESIA, now married, MARIA (Sister Wendelina), Michael, 1904 [1905] to America, Anna died 1942, Theresia died 1956, Maria died 1956. BARBARA (Sister Epiphania) died 1944 in a concentration camp, ALOIS, not married, missing since World War I in Serbia, FRANZISKA (Sister Reinholda), now living in Auerbach, JOSEFA (Sister Felicia) 71 years old living in Auerbach, ALOISIA, married, 69 years old living in Dingolfing Bavaria. Since brother Michael went to America and brother Alois was not married there are no Pritzl descendents. We are pleased that the name Pritzl is being spread there. May we all meet in our eternal home, with our religious ancestors, to thank our Father in Heaven for all the good, which he bestowed on our family. [Remarks on side: "This rhymes in the original"] I shall thank you with every breath I take, with every heartbeat to the last heartbeat of the day. You shall be thanked with every thought, all I want to say is: I thank you, thank you, thank you
I hope that you have recuperated after the demanding work for the building of the Catholic High School. Do you still have Sisters who can manage your household? I like to translate your letters. Hopefully mail will come often. May you be rewarded for your prayers, we pray for you daily, also for your properties and we send heartfelt greetings. your cousins, Sister M. Reinholda Aloisia Sister M. Felicia
