Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Comfrey, Monday, March 10th for John Fecker, 88 who died suddenly on March 7, 1969 at the farm home of his daughter (Bernice), Mrs. Clifford Wolterstorff at Knapp, Wisconsin. Rev. Peter Berger officiated. Pallbearers were: Michael Baier, Edward Eckstein, Norbert Lang, Joseph J. Nachreiner, Leo Nachreiner and Walter Nachreiner. Interment was in the St. Rafaels Catholic Cemetery Springfield, with arrangements by Hoyt Funeral Home. John Lucas Fecker was born July 7, 1880 in Burnstown Township, Brown County, and had lived in the Springfield area most of his life, attending grade school in Springfield, the son of Lucas Fecker and Pauline Hall who came here from Germany. He farmed in the Springfield area. He married Sophia Rubey at St. Raphaels Catholic Church, Springfield on June 21, 1910. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Sylvester (Catherine) Hornick of Comfrey; Mrs. Clifford (Bernice) Wolterstorff of Knapp, Wisconsin, with whom he lived that last several years, and Walter Fecker of Buffalo Lake. All survive him along with seven grandchildren and two great Grandchildren. One sister and one brother also survive him. They are Mrs. John R. Schmid Sr. of Springfield and Ernest Fecker of Seattle, Washington. Preceding him in death was his wife, Sophia, who died August 9, 1956. The deceased was a member of the St. Boniface Society.
