"Pearl May Duflot was born July 14, 1890 on the Ridgeway place, located on the Pryorsburg Road, Mayfield, KY. She completed the 9th grade. On April 11, 1909, she married William B. Few of Texarkana whosefamily lived in the same neighborhoodwith the Duflots. Six girls wereborn to this couple which Bill jokingly divided into "two crops" becausethere was a time period of six years that elapsed between the "first andsecond crops": Josephine Marie, Lillian Jane, Lois Antoinette,Billijune, Mary Francis and Shirley May."

On the 1910 Census for Miller County, Texarkana, AR, Pearl and herhusband, W.B. Few and daughter Josephine 9 months old, lived next toPearl's father, Albert Duflot. Pearl was 19, her husband was 26 andworking as a lumber checker in a saw mill.
From cousin Norma Sorsby Belonie 1995: "We visited Aunt Pearl andUncle Will a few times on College St. in Shreveport. They always came tothe family reunions and at Christmas sometimes. They would come to "FewMemorial's" reunion everyMay 1. Billie June and Shirley would comewith them, before Shirley died."

From Pearl's granddaughter, Susan Pearce-Rewoldt Sept. 2003: "Mamaw(Grandmother, Pearl) died of a massive stroke. She was living with AuntJo and had been for some time. Aunt Jo was outside doing something andcame in and found my sweet "Mamaw" on the floor. It was very swift-whichwas good, I guess, but do you know what? I still miss her so much. Shewas a dear and was always so interested in her daughters andgranddaughters and all of our activities. She was so unselfish and alwaysso grateful for the smallest things to the biggest and would get soexcited over whatever was going on at the time. AND, she was such a HAPPYperson!!!! I know she suffered greatly at the loss of her youngestdaughter, Shirley's death in 1945 and my mom's death in 1963, but likeI've said to you before, she took things in stride-although, I know herheart was broken in both instances, but she always seemed to come throughand I've inherited her ability to eat her way thru any crisis!!! Everyoneloved her-Jo's neighbors were always coming to see her. We are all sograteful to you for not only your interest, but for all of your mightyefforts to research all of the data. I've told them all that I am goingto write Geo. W.Bush and recommend that he hire you to find Saddam andOsama!!!! I KNOW you could do it!!!! That story I was going to tell youweeks ago about Aunt Jo.....when I was there in July, I took her shoppingTHREE days!! (I hate to shop and she LOVES it!) She was feeling prettyweak, but we would go in a store-she clinging to my arm and all the timeshe would say, Oh, Sugee(her nickname for me) I just don't think I canmake it. Let's find a chair in the Petite Dept. So, we would go to thatdept(ME-I NEVER go near the petite dept-I went from a Toddler 3 to asize 12!!!!) and we would find a place for her to rest. Then I wouldwander around and find something I thought would look good on her and shewould jump up and say with a GREATdeal of enthusiasm-Oh, I LIKE that!!Where's a dressing room??? It just cracked me up-she has such enthusiasmfor life and for clothes and shoes-I wish I could say the same formyself- Life! YES! Clothes and shoes-I can take 'em or leave 'em!!!Ithink you may have some luck with Billijune-as far as memories go ofLouis George-she said that they were the same age and she used to go upfor a couple of weeks at a time to visit. I think Uncle Bun used to takeher back with him when he wasin La. and then he would take her back toLa. when he went back. Billijune is kinda reserved-more so than Jo, butyou might enjoy talking to her(225)769-9260. She and Uncle Dave have agreat life. He is going to be 86 this fall and they botharestill great"learners". They helped put together an "Elder-learning program at LSUand have started taking their classes. They are both amazing. She isstill teaching(although, I think she is trying to quit) teachingIkebana(sp?)-Japanese flowerarranging. She still gardens-even afterdouble knee replacement a couple of yrs. ago. You would really love them. She told me the other night that she and Martha would get (oops!!! no,that was Frances!) that told me she and Martha D. Daviswould gettogether every once in a while when they both lived in Dallas years ago.Anyway, my sister, Jane, and I are blessed with wonderful aunts!!!"
