Birth: Mar. 14, 1824 Kentucky, USA Death: Jan. 8, 1907 Lewis County Tennessee, USA Her full name was: Virginia Ann Jennie Branch Turnbow, born in Kentucky. Her nickname was Tennessee Jennie Branch. She was the daughter of George Turnbow, Sr. Branch's husband was Samuel Sanford, though their is also a connection with her to the Dabbs family. Samuel Sanford was born Jan 20, 1812 - died April 12, 1863. M.T. Sanford was born Jan 6, 1858. Some of the Sanford family later realized her correct blood name was Turnbow and they began to use our name. We do not know the names of her children she had with Samuel Sanford. Virginia Ann and one of her Turnbow cousins had sons: Anderson Turnbow and John Calvin Turnbow, born in late 1830s. John Calvin Turnbow served in the 3rd Tennessee Infantry. He had a son with wife Julia Ammons, named George Alexander Turnbow, born 1877. He had the following, other children by his 1st wife Adeline Jane Goodman: Margaret, born 1851, (she married Nathaniel Dabbs), James T-1854 & Samuel A. Turnbow-1856, Billy Turnbow-1859, and George Drury Dobbins Turnbow-Nov 15, 1860. George D. Dobbins Turnbow's daughter was Lizzie Lou Turnbow. She had several children, one is Adell Harris. His sons are Leon Harris and John Mathis. *Another research source has shown Virginia Branch Turnbow was born in 1810. She was very old when she died and her descendents could have very well lost track of her actual year of birth (when having her grave stone carved).
