Notizen zu dieser Person

Daniel Williams was recorded a minister by Wrightsborough MonthlyMeeting on 7 Jun 1788. Some notes respecting Daniel Williams by his sister, Rachel Price. In the year 1777 my brother Daniel and Mary, his wife with two little daughters, accompanied by my sister Sarah, her husband John Williams, and their infant daughter, set off to seek a place of abode. Sarah's twin sister, Mary Wickersham, was already settled in North Carolina and when they reached there through many difficulties, (itbeing the time of the Revolutionary War) the sisters were rejoiced to meet again. John and Sarah concluded to remain there but brother Daniel preferred going to Georgia. My sister Sarah died in less than twoyears after her removal there with a short illness during which she often experessed her desire to be taken out of this troublesome world; andleft as one going to sleep, on the 12th day of the 12th month in 1778leaving him with two children the youngest not a year old; he struggled along with them there awhile and then returned to Pennsylvania. When brother Daniel and his wife reached Georgia the season was far advanced, andthey spent the rest of the winter at his wife's uncle's, [John Embree]there being several of them settled there of the name Embree. He bought 100 acres of good land with some improvements on it within the oldpurchase where they settled comfortably except being disturbed by incursions of the Indians near there, (who were much dissatisfied with a newpurchase made by the government) but they were not injured by them. He spentthe remainder of his life in Georgia in a place called Wrightsborough. He frequently wrote to his relations and twice visited us, bringing hiswife with him. He lived within about the year 1800 when he departed inpeace, leaving behind him a widow and seven daughters, their only son having died before they left Nantwill [Nantmeal?]. In a few years after his decease, the mother and daughters all moved to the state of Ohio and settled in the neighborhood of Stillwater near together, except onewho settled in the western part of the state. When on a visit to themeetng of Friends in Ohio in the year 1807 I had the satisfaction of seeingthem married and pretty confortably settled, where they generally remainedto dwell, their mother lived to a good old age, and died in peace.
