Peter Ehrbar was born in Tiffin, Ohio where he is listed in the 1881-82 Tiffin Directory as a carriage painter living at home with his parents at Charlotte 3 and W Monroe. In the 1887-88 Directory he is listed as living with his mother, a widow,at 117 Union Street as an apprentice. In 1890-91 he is listed as a stonecutter living at 139 Union Street with his mother and sister, Jennie. He is listed as a stonecutter, living at 141 Union Street in 1895-96.
He married Elizabeth Hummer On April 26, 1892 in Tiffin, Ohio and they lived at the 141 Union Street address thru the 1898 Directory still listed as a stonecutter. Peter and Elizabeth had a family of 8 children, 5 were born in Tiffin and 3 were born in the Cleveland area after they moved there in 1900. In Cleveland they lived at 124 Collister Ave. (1900 City Directory), 21 Lisbon Avenue (1903 City Directory), and later at 12707 Taft Avenue (1906-08) City directories. He worked at variousjobs: a Stonecutter while living at the Lisbon address, a Motorman on the streetcars while living at the Taft Ave. address. In 1910 the family moved to Ashtabula. Ohio where Peter became a farmer. In 1920 the family moved to 1730 Burgess Ave. InCleveland, Peter then became a toolmaker and machinists for the Cleveland Tractor Co. Because of his violent temper, Peter and Elizabeth were seperated for several years before his illness of Cancer of the Prostate, Stomach, Liver and Chest. Hewas ill for about 1 1/2 years when he lived with his sister, Tilda and Fred Green. He returned to live with Elizabeth and their family at 962 East 131 Street, East Cleveland, and that is where he died. He was buried with a Mass at St. Philomene's Church and burial at Calvary Cememtery.
