The man "Vögeli" is the father of Adam Hambsch, Sr, but the family would not allow him to marry Regina Hambsch. The reason may have been that he had grown daughters from a previous marriage (to Eva Schmitt) who objected to the marriage. This information was attested to bei a (Mrs) Maier of Speyer, Germany Johannes Harz was a widower and he married Regina and was a stepfather to Adam. As is always the case in these situations the family does not talk about these happenings and the records are hard to find. One reason that I found even this little bit of information is that Uncle Fritz Weiss had to prove Tante Hedi's ancestry in order to marry her and keep his job as police officer. All of this happened in Adolf Hitler's time when public servants had to prove that they and their immediate relatives were not Jewish.
